It is also called King&#8217;s Creek: seems like every natural landmark around here has  been renamed at least once (unlike the man-made landmarks <a href=\"http:\/\/jenniferbooher.com\/wp\/?p=35\" target=\"_blank\">whose names often persist for decades after they stop making sense<\/a>.) That&#8217;s Cadillac Mountain in the background, for example, which was known as Green Mountain in the 19th century and before that I think the Wabanaki called it Pemetic. <\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jenniferbooher.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_6393_web-C2-A9.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"640\" src=\"http:\/\/jenniferbooher.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_6393_web-C2-A9.jpg\" width=\"422\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">It&#8217;s a beautiful spot for kayaking or canoeing, and this time of year you can pick cranberries. I haven&#8217;t been out there for a couple of years, but when the kids were little they got a huge kick out of bouncing on the springy bog turf. <\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jenniferbooher.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_6396_web-C2-A9.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"422\" src=\"http:\/\/jenniferbooher.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_6396_web-C2-A9.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">The creek runs right under the main road into Bar Harbor, and this is the view looking upstream from under the bridge.<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jenniferbooher.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_6407_web-C2-A9.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"640\" src=\"http:\/\/jenniferbooher.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_6407_web-C2-A9.jpg\" width=\"422\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">October is a mighty fine time of year to live in Maine.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Northeast Creek is a tidal estuary flowing through marshes and cranberry bogs out to the bay.
