Last week I put on my Acadia-National-Park-Artist-in-Residence hat and gave a slide presentation at the Schoodic Institute. It’s about half an hour long:
Notecards are ready!
I started the process of having notecards printed back in late July. The first print company messed up twice, so I have 1400 ink-spotted cards in a corner of my studio. The second print company did a great job, and I’ve listed these in packs of 5 on my Etsy shop. Clicking on the photos will take you to the listings. The product photo shoot was a blast – it was a gorgeous day, more late summer than early fall, and two sailboats had thoughtfully moored between the islands, making a perfect background.
P.S. There’s a new Coast Walk post right here: http://jenniferbooher.com/wp-walking/coast-walk-11-part-1-the-inner-cove/
Snowflakes
I am having entirely too much fun making these snowflakes. It’s very meditative work, sorting the shells and stones by color and size, and then working out the patterns. Prints are available in my Etsy shop. In other news, we’ve set dates for the lectures I mentioned last post:
“The Coast Walk,” Artist-in-Residence lecture, Sept.26, 7-8 pm. Moore Auditorium, Schoodic Education and Research, Acadia National Park.
“Stories from the Coast Walk,” October 4, 2015, 2pm. Bar Harbor Historical Society, Ledgelawn Avenue, Bar Harbor, Maine.
I’m also giving a couple of workshops in addition to the usual Wednesday night ‘Playing with Nature’ class:
August 20, 8:30-10:30 am: “Playing with Nature” outdoors at the Fabbri Memorial Picnic Area, Acadia National Park. (I’m a 2015 Artist-in-Residence.) Info will be posted here: http://www.nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/calendar.htm
August 21, 2015, 8-10 am: “Brunch and Learn: Taking Better Pictures with your Smart Phone,” Anchorspace, 337 Main Street, Bar Harbor. $25. Sign up at https://breakingeveninc.com/brunch-and-learn/
Sept.26, 3-5 pm: “Playing with Nature” outdoors at Schoodic Peninsula, Acadia National Park. (I’m a 2015 Artist-in-Residence.) Info will be posted here: http://www.nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/calendar.htm
You can see everything I’ve got coming up on the ‘Events’ tab in the menu at the top of the page.
New Snowflake
Shell Snowflake 3 – prints available in my Etsy shop.
I’ve got two lectures coming up this fall – one for Acadia National Park in September, and another for the Bar Harbor Historical Society in October. I’ll let you know dates and times when they are final.
New work
Wow, it has been a busy week! This is a new series that was inspired by the workshops I’ve been giving – I started playing with shells along with my students and am kind of hooked on making these wonky little snowflakes now. Prints are available in my etsy shop and they’re so cute I’m thinking about making notecards out of them. What do you think?
There are also two new Coast Walk posts up now, working our way around the Otter Creek shore:
Enjoy!
